As Jolla’s Sailfish OS has already made its debut, at least in an early form, the “other half” logically refers to the hardware on which Sailfish OS will be installed.
A company formed by ex-Nokians have developed a completely open-source OS called Sailfish. This team had previously worked on Meego OS, which did not see any future. Sailfish OS is a complete open-source built on top of Linux and provides a platform to run Android applications
. The Sailfish OS is completely gesture based and have no navigation buttons for any task.Although Sailfish OS is a touchscreen operating system, Jolla has long been petitioned by fans to produce a phone with a physical keyboard, and although it’s a long shot, perhaps the firm is about to breathe new life into that long-forgotten form factor, the QWERTY slider?
Jolla has launched its first handset, the Jolla, running Sailfish OS in India priced at Rs. 16,499 exclusively on Snapdeal.
.
You do have the now standard 8 MP/ 2 MP camera combination available on the Jolla. Connectivity options are aplenty with 4G LTE support, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS with GLONASS but it is a single-SIM device and comes with only a 2100 mAh battery.
Jolla Vip Box
Priced at Rs. 16,499 and its exclusivity to Snapdeal will definitely hinder sales in India. The first 90 customers are supposed to get a VIP box which comes with 3 NFC enabled back-covers worth about Rs. 7000
