The Nintendo 2DS combines the best of systems Nintendo DS and 3DS portable console. It is played in 2D, which keeps the price down-but is compatible with all games for the DS and 3DS.
They will also be available as part of a bundle with new Pokemon games Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire from the games' launch on November 28.
Meanwhile, Nintendo confirmed that downloadable demos for the two games will be available from October 15.Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are set to release on November 28 in Europe and November 21 in North America.
Nintendo's budget-friendly new handheld, the Nintendo 2DS, made its publicly playable debut on the first day of PAX Prime. The most obvious difference between the Nintendo 2DS and the 3DS/3DS XL is its inability to play games in stereoscopic 3D without the need for glasses. Holding the 2DS initially feels unnatural.
Where the 2DS immediately failed for me was its cross pad, which feels softer and mushier than the clicky D-pad of the original Nintendo 3DS, the model I use almost daily.
I felt the same way about the shoulder buttons on the Nintendo 2DS, which curve around the shoulder of the device (and are huge). They don't click with the pleasant feedback of the original 3DS. And their placement above the upper screen feels awkward when transitioning from a 3DS, which tucks the shoulder buttons behind the flip-up upper screen.

Since the 2DS doesn't fold in half, low-power sleep mode is achieved with a toggle switch on the bottom right of the device. It also disables turning the device off with the power button.
Meanwhile, Nintendo has also revealed it will be offering limited demo codes of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. Players can pick up codes from retailers such as Game, Amazon, Smyth Toys Superstores, ShopTo, and online at the Nintendo UK Official Store.
